BURDENS

I often look back over my life
At difficulties I have come through.
I'm so glad they were spread over years
And not over a month or two.

If all of the trials I have endured
Had descended in such a short time.
I know that I would not have coped,
The body, the soul, nor the mind.

Each one of us has a burden to bear
It’s how people conceive life must be.
But the burden can be lifted from you
And there is no cost it’s free.

I carried a burden way back in time
Which I found was too heavy to bear.
It almost caused me to take my life
As I felt lost and in despair.

A friend of mine mentioned Jesus to me
And how He could turn things around.
He could also lift the burden from me,
Give me peace and a mind that was sound.

After days of thinking this over,
I kneeled and started to pray.
I opened my heart and asked Jesus in
And my life was changed from that day.

I will never forget that moment
For His peace had descended on me.
It was then that the burden was lifted,
I then knew He’d set me free.

So if you have a burden
Pressing heavily down on you.
Then take it to the Lord in prayer,
That’s what Jesus tells us to do.
