It Was I

Arise and shine O Israel
From the slumber you are in,
Your love for Me has departed
And your faith in Me is dim.

It was I thy God that chose you
It was I that set thee free,
From bondage within Egypt
Yes, I freed thee from captivity.

It was I that said I壇 plant thee
In the Isles of the sea,
North and West of Palestine
To be free from Tyranny.

A Commonwealth of Nations
Is what I said you壇 be?
A pledge which I have kept,
My word thy guarantee.

I also said I壇 make thee great
And Great Britain thy name became,
A promise that I have fulfilled
Yet My name you now profane.

Yet when ye walked in my ways
And your faith in Me was strong,
I blessed you as I said I would
And I filled your heart with song.

You were head of the nations
And all looked up to thee,
I made thee great in number
So you could set nations free.

I made thee strong in battle
And in conflict you did prevail,
For it was I that walked beside thee
When thy faith in Me did dwell.

But now thou hath forsaken me
And thy love for Me grown cold,
You no longer put thy trust in Me
As you once did in days of old.

You rely on your lovers in Europe
And your ways have become corrupt,
For ye are in league with Babylon
Yet her collapse will be abrupt.

Because thou hast turned from Me
I now have removed thy power,
And the heathen that is within thee
I will use to make thee cower.

I will use them to correct thee
Yes I will make thee low and frail,
For the stranger shall be the head
And ye shall be the tail.

Ye are a rebellious people
My statutes you choose to ignore,
So I値l discipline you as promised
For My justice is swift and sure.

I give thee signs and warnings
But ye fail to comprehend,
Yet soon I値l return in glory
And this world you know will end.

Your lamps keep trimmed and oiled
Take note of the signs of the times,
So when the trumpet sounds in the Heavens
You値l not find yourself groping and blind.

So awake thyself My chosen
And lift up thine weary eyes,
Reach out to Me and I値l help you
Then from Me you値l gain the prize.

So thou must repent O Israel
And turn from thy backsliding ways,
For I am the God that chose thee
Yes, I am the Ancient of Days.
